Free Verse

Come what may,
the spring is deep
is profound
melts words into thoughts warm,

and ice can drip on the floor
it can lie still,
next to feet cold
as the scent of varnish new,
envelopes lilac toes

Then spotted a path,
with vision tunnel
Blooms burst from gardens,
strain to be free
None collapsing in agony

and all this time
the way sits patient,
curled up in the shadows
waiting for,
discovery...

Iris Green

If only that flickering thought
Had never made you pause

And that questioning glance been battered
By the arms strong of faith

If only moments were held
Longer than one short breath

And the song too would mould
Itself to the winding road

If only the last dregs of coffee
Could be as good as the first sip

And informed were our choices
Before we took the plunge

Excer-pi-toes

Excerpts from a Budding Novel (ahem, soon?)

They say that inspiration is hard to find.
I agree.
I wonder why my protagonist has to be a girl.
But she just does.
She needs to go through heart break, betrayals, friendships, illusions shattered, familial love, classical music, literature, art, growing up, romantic love, a journal, rejection and inspiration. She needs to go through all the above and in 299 pages. She needs me to map out the way to talk about her day. Each day, special… like a once-blooming rose pressed between the pages of a diary. She needs me to talk about her, to her and with her.
Who the effing hell said writing was easy?

And just so everyone out there Knows, the more you learn about the Art of Writing and how to Decrypt a text... The harder it is to actually Write something that doesn't sound contrived and fake.

Ecck. I should have just gone with the cactus story as a kid, would've been heralded as a child-genius for about forty years.
(Think morally-driven cactus brainwashing umm teaching kids)
Sigh, what might have been.

By-the-way movies you So should watch..

-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (for the fodder to chew on)
-Perfume (for the sheer experience of a crazy world)
-Luck By Chance (for the perfection that is Bollywood :)..)
-Juno (for the perfect blend of wit and unusual feminism)
-Dev-D (strangely worth it!)
-Walk to Remember (for the joy of a superbly cheesy movie)

Joy Joy Joy, now go out there and take over the world. Shoo.
Oh an Addition.
Movies you can go through life without watching (and not feeling deprived)
-Delhi 6 (disappointing)
-Slumdog (just to be a rebel and not go ga-ga over it, okay you can hate me now)
-Birds-Hitchcock (you need not ask why, okay curious cat..its just Painful)
-Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha (saw it 4 years ago and i still remember vividly why it was a Bad choice)
Okay, now you may go and take over the world Or take a nap.
:)

The Prelude to Work from Now on

Somebody far smarter than most people once said, there’s your version, my version and then there’s the truth.

*waits for it to sink in*

Since nobody is really able to come to any ‘real’ conclusions anyway based on personal experiences, we might as well adopt the Eliot way. I.e. we get to disassociate the writer from his/her creation to the point that the person narrating the story is also not assumed to be the writer.

Clear enough, eh?

So since my personal experience is basically limited to college (academics)/ assorted relationships (varying from toffee-butterscotch to grape-purple ice candy) my reactions to the world (which are normally, as I read further, thoroughly explored by other people hundreds of years ago)… Which means whatever I write is ultimately quite useless/pointless/meaningless/anything of value-less, maybe it’s high time a different approach is adopted.

It would be a shame to know that I came so close to the truth only to wrap a cream napkin around my eyes and profess to be ignorant to the facts. Again, simply speaking, it would be stupid to deny the obvious that nothing of great merit is really popping out of this rumble-jumble heap of thoughts that I call my (nearly) daily blog posts.

What I am trying very hard to spell out for some obscure reason (as always) is that there should be a better reason for writing. Writing for the sake of writing is wonderful but what does it get one barring aching fingers (pure and total exaggeration)… This is what reading Peter Barry does to me, makes me question it all and reminds me of the questions some part of me tried to so hard to forget. It raises up all the relevant debates raging in the world and clearly sings out the question “and my dear, what are You doing to contribute?”. Before I can mumble my excuse and hide my face in another Kinsella, am bombarded by the ‘great’ ones of literature who may or may not have made a lasting impact but that never stopped them from trying.

Sigh. Why can’t it be simpler?
M once told me (in a completely different context, maybe it was D.P related),
“Nothing is really that complicated *Insert my name*, it is you who makes it So complex”
I know M, deep down I know (okay, even up here I know) that I don’t necessarily Need this additional pressure or extra bombardment of questions, I know but I don’t really want to swim in the shallow end of the pool, especially not when I know the deep side of it exists well within the reach of my dreams:)

I-Claim-Ers

The Magic wand is waved
and the words of knowledge flow like wine.... *pause*.... starting now

And it has been claimed

-everything embarrassing you have Ever experienced, will be repeated... Over and over again, until you find a horse who grunts in French. Really.

-computers will always get a hard-to-erase virus, Yais Yais.. Even If you stop playing random games online.

-cursed are ipods for they always get buried underneath 12000 randomly tossed clothes. (pfft.)

-sneakers are sure to bring joy to (nearly)anyone who straps them on... (grin)

-movies are made for a higher purpose, they either make you cry/laugh/love or kick yourself for watching them. i prefer the laughter and the 'aww' producers feeee-rankly.

-doping will never be in fashion as long as living with grey cells is in Vogue.

-Literature will bring those pleasure who allow it to invade their life/dreams/bed and ultimately them. *crunch crunch, that hemingway sure tasted good*

Yes, i won't pretend this makes sense.
i scoff sense.
Sense and i are no longer friends.
I prefer, if you please, to shake hands with wit.
hello Wit.
*pause*...
(Wit walks away)
Yais Yais, now i'm alone.
(dumpee of sense and dumped by Wit)
*scrunches nose*
as if words matter... fragmented narratives are So In-Style i'll have you know.

(Disclaimer-okay, i still have a good-writing writers block)
But that wont really stop me from bouncing around and making my presence felt. Who knows when something super-hold-your-tummy-funny may pop out.
umm, okay.. you don't have to hold your breath for that.
Please?

Doi

On a cheesy high.
S got a scruffy nuzzle-prone boy :)
(naturally, i celebrate with pal...)

Music Top-Rated List currently reads
1)Daniel Bedlingfield
2)John Mayer
3)Elton John
4)Timberlake
5)Jewel

Spiritual side may just be inching towards perfection.
Though i think i disappointed H by not rushing off to Indore for an AOL course.
Well, into each life some rain must fall... (lala...anyway?)

To follow the more 'normal' post style
shall sum up
- V was in town (back to Pune tomorrow..bummer)...Naturally, sleepover :)
- Young cousin is in town too. But now towering over me at 6'3. Unfair. Am officially the shortest person from maternal and paternal side. *grumpy*
- Discovered fruit-YYY! sprays. (Want Giiiiiiift!!!)
- Need to study more (this would be a constant)
- Still havent got All our papers back, so too early to celebrate or sniffle.
- Miss college in the oddest way (like holidays, but only cause i know i'll go back the next day)

Getting writers block. Yais, Yais, the real one.
See how i said Yais. Yais?
oh, fine!.. go drown thyself in freshly squeezed pomegranate juice.
(need something of a muse... soon)

Ps- Doi are these really cool people in Pierce's novels who can tell the future accurately and have super great Doi magic. No, i haven't quite got used to the idea of turning 21. Childrens books are still the best(est) :)

The I-Muse Moment

I wonder now
-why it must take so long
-how many kms to that decision
-if four leaved clovers exist

I thought then...
-for joy to bubble, was a given
-fairies lived in banyan trees
I think
-we can creep up to the truth
-we need to creep up softly
-if we make too much noise, the truth will change... and we'll grab on to thin air.

I know not much, but this i do... soon, the raindrops will land on that cold grey floor and the picture will be complete.

Diary

and then i said i'd ban the world
ban the ants
ban all lamps
ban being moody
ban feeling sad
ban ban ban
ban everything i simply can

Dear Moss on the Rock.
Thought a wild horse in this jungle deep had brushed you away. But you're back again, or perhaps you never went away.

Dear Brown path Painting.
You had to lead the way, or assure me there was some light. The power went out, and your colours from me now stand disguised.

Dear(est).
Oh dear. Dare i ask, why?

Dear heart warmer.
Much thanks for an evenings perfect start.

Dear Ink scrawled page.
Three such precious hours aren't spent with just anyone, somewhere.

Dear faith (mis)placed.
Known for a year that 'a gem is sought for, it does not seek'.. In a battle of two gems, would diamonds triumph ruby?

Dear(est), again.
Find my faith.
Please.

(It never hurts to be polite)
